Istanbul (short layover, thankfully)

The stark contrast between worlds is sobering. While one is bright, friendly, and comfortable with generous amenities, the other greets the traveler with military-like security and hot, cramped terminals and gates (picture looks brighter than it was). Israel brings its own layer of protection at the gate, as should be expected. This is apparently a factor in the lower cost for tickets.
While walkway extensions reach out in futility to find a plane, passengers are herded and packed into buses for transport between gate and plane.
