Tour Day 2: Biblical Nazareth Village, Caesarea Philippi, and Bethsaida

Nazareth Village is an attempt to recreate life in the time and place of young Jesus. We saw examples of residential architecture and demonstrations of woodworking and spinning/weaving. In a synagogue replica, Dr. Tabor gave us a lesson, reading about Jesus being handed the Isaiah scroll and reading in a synagogue.

This interesting spot at the headwaters of the Jordan River, Caesarea Philippi, has minimal remains of three temples: Pan, Zeus, and Caesar Augustus. It was the site of a retreat for Jesus and his closest followers.

Last on today's list was Bethsaida.
This iron age city (tenth century BC)  was the home of 4 or 5 of "The Twelve". One excavated house (now known as "The Fisherman's House") had more fishing tackle found in it than any other house.
Another house was identified as belonging to a winemaker because of his very nice wine cellar.
